Carpets in beige

The colour beige is completely on trend: especially when combined with a light interior, a natural, Scandi style or in conjunction with the popular Boho look. Beige hasn’t been the smaller, less attractive "brother" of white for a long time. What makes the colour so attractive when it comes to rugs and other textiles, is its approachability. A beige rug does not seem as distant as a white rug can, yet it can be combined with other colours just as easily, since beige rugs harmonise with both bright colours and wooden tones.

Furthermore, there are certainly differences that contribute to its diversity. Earthy and sandy tones are a little stronger in colour, whereas cream tones move more towards their big "brother", white. Powdery shades are considered a good compromise between the two ends of the beige spectrum. The result is clear to see: a beige rug creates a sense of harmony and comfort whilst also emphasising a natural environment. Beige rugs are well-suited to the popular vintage style.

Beige rugs in the living room and dining room

Due to their harmonising and homely aura, it is not surprising that such rugs are frequently used in the living room and dining room. Strong colours often feature heavily in many styles of interior, whether that’s in the form of brightly-coloured sofas, dining tables and chairs made of solid wood, or shelves and cupboards whose size alone makes a big impact. Darker beige tones are a little reminiscent of classic styles and can imitate majestic, rustic-looking animal fur, visually at least. Powdery tones, on the other hand, can seem a little more playful and relaxed, which is why they can also be combined wonderfully with extravagant decorative elements.

The many shades of beige provide an informal variety and enormous flexibility when choosing furnishing elements surrounding the rug. Another advantage is that beige is bright without being brash. It creates a cosy effect in the evenings when the lights, whereas during the day the rug radiates a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

Beige rugs in the kitchen and hallway

Its use in the kitchen and the hallway proves the versatility of this all-round colour. In the kitchen, beige harmonises wonderfully with a rustic or Scandinavian look involving lots of wooden tones and natural décor. Ideally you would use an easily accessible contrast here: if the kitchen cabinets are darker, a powdery, cream-coloured beige tone is recommended. If they are made of Scandinavian-looking light wood, however, you can choose a more earthy, dark beige. In this way, you are using colour tones from the same family whilst creating a visual difference between the furniture and the floor or rug.

In the hallway, on the other hand, traditionally one of the darker rooms in the home, the light effect of a beige rug makes a positive impression. It also optically opens up the room, making it appear less cluttered or full, whilst of course retaining the inviting effect for which beige as a colour is known. Here too, the fact that beige can be combined easily with other colours is a big advantage.

There are many different shades of beige - and that’s a good thing! A beige rug can look light and subtle, dark and natural, and/or almost based on white. There are also many different styles and patterns which give these rugs that little something extra, making sure that they stand out.
